Summary
Add a SummaryEd captures a bank-robber and then he is considered as a "hero" in the newspaper. His life changes from that moment on : he gets unanymous cards with adresses or names. He knows he has to help those people somehow, but will he be able to do it or will he give up? After all, he's just a regular boy with no superpowers at all. Just him, a cabbdriver.
nice to read a story were the protagonist isn't some superhero, genius, incredibly good looking or whatever. He's just you're typical below the average guy who happens to be in love with his best friend. After accidently stopping a bank robbery- he constantly gets cards with adresses of people who need his help. It goes to show that even the ordinary people can do extraordinary thins.

Comment
Add a CommentI stated reading this book because the author (Marcus Zusak) is also the author of The Book Thief which I liked. I kept reading this because I actually tried to read it twice before but I always picked up a better book than this one, and forgot all about it, so I told myself this time that I would finish it. The main character, Ed Kennedy would most likely be calmest person ever. It is about Ed receiving tasks he must do. This book is unlike anything I have read before so I wouldn’t know any other books like this.
This book is brilliant and rather unique. The beginning was amusing and it drew me right into the book. I personally think the ending was perfect, considering how hard it is to wrap up a book that basically is made up of short stories connected by four aces.
I found this to be a rather intriging book. Ed's veiws are amusing, but the way he thinks about women and in what ways kinda creeps me out. Do all guys think that way? I sure hope not. Anway, I also found the potty language to be vulgar and take away from the story. Yes, I know there are many many people who talk like that and worse than that in real life, but two to four swear words in most spoken sentances is a bit much. Though I was suprised not to see the F-word in there. And rather glad, considering the meaning if it. The end also dissapointed me. It seemed as if the authour was trying to make a point, but could only give vauge hints as to what his point was. Or maybe I'm just being thick. Overall, the plot was excelent. I have never run across any book with a simalar plot. I like the way Ed recieved his messages.
Adorable!!
An outstanding read! I find this book absolutelly amazing and loved it from the first to the last page! Interesting, captivating, funny, romantic and very inspirational! GREAT, one of my favourite books.
Interesting characters, right down to a mangy mutt called Doormat. Funny in places but I must not have been in the mood for this one because I didn't quite get the profundity of the story. Still, I enjoyed reading it for the interesting premise as well as the character idiosyncrasies artfully depicted.
Relatable characters, beautiful metaphors, but the ending was still a bit of a dissappointment.
This book was absolutely amazing! I loved it!
Very fast read. Good book, but not quite as well written as "The Book Thief".
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. I am in love with this book. It is every it as impactful and gravitational as The Book Thief. The sheer honesty of everything in it warms my heart. This book's message is everything you see on posters and hear in speeches, but somehow, when you hear it this way, it really hits you. Life changing, it really is.
