Add a CommentA microcosm view of religion. A charismatic soul has an idea/divine inspiration/a blow to the head and gets an idea of god, and what follows when he "spreads the word." We meet a fanatic, a dabbler, a follower; see a division of ideas and branching of sects and plenty of theological musings. I can see people struggling with the faith they were born into finding this novel a relief, that it's okay to question and even eventually decide their parent's religion is not their own. The religion was clever and amusingly scifi. And hello, I now see water towers everywhere
