This book is so great!! It's hilariously funny. I watched the movie first and then read the book, but I enjoyed the book more, mostly because it has so much more than the movie! Everything makes so much more sense in the book and is just as funny, if not funnier, than the movie! I still really do like the movie, though. I would recommend anyone at any age to read this book!
this book is great i first watched the movie then i read the book but for some reason the movie was better i guess because i know what they sound like ^^
This is an amazing book! I've seen the movie and it's awesome, but the book just has so much more detail. It's very funny and I could visualize the scenes very well.
This is one of the best books in the world!!!
I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!! This book is well written, creative, witty, and funny. I was laughing so much when I read it. One of my favorite books!! :)
After having read this book five times, I have to say this is one of my favorite books. Diana Wynne Jones did a fantastic job with it, and I love it dearly. I love Sophie's blunt voice, and how she acts so much differently when she's an old woman. I love Howl and Calcifer as well-- especially Howl, with his tantrums and over-reactions to the simplest things. Hilarious and definitely well written. If you haven't read this, you must.
wonderful, imaginative, creative, entertaining book with a lot of heart and a lot of originality. However, the cover does it no favors. The writing style is a little blunt for my taste, but, all and all, great read!
I think this will forever be one of my favorite books. I read it originally when I was 11 and just finished reading it, for the second time, about an hour ago (five years later). Its very funny but also sweet and endearing. Much better than the movie storyline-wise. The characters are all outrageous but still seem like people I could know. I like that it doesn't focus on all that romantic-mushy crap, its got an actual plot. The only thing I didn't like was that UGLY cover illustration D: who thought that was a good idea!?
This is one of the loveliest books I've read lately (not counting that I recently re-read The Little Prince). If you enjoy fantasy fiction written in a fairy tale like way, this book is for you. It's just so darn charming! Sophie is a lovely heroine and I love that she's not a damsel in distress type of character. Howl is hilarious and quite frankly, a drama queen. All other characters were lovely as well -- yes, even the Witch of the Waste but in her own kind of charm. I haven't watched the film but the author herself has said that the film is different from the novel. I think I would enjoy both though. Now to seek out the DVD!
