Add a CommentJacky Faber is used to fighting for survival as an orphan on the streets of London. When the HMS Dolphin is hiring ship boys for an exciting new voyage, Jack finally has a chance to escape life on the streets, to fight pirates, and pursue riches and glory on a real English warship. There’s only one problem… Jacky is a girl! The first in the popular series by L.A. Meyer, comes Bloody Jack, a fast-paced story of swash-buckling adventure and deception on the high seas. Although sometimes slipping into stereotypes of the minor characters, Jacky is a strong clever protagonist - she will not disappoint. At times funny, dangerous, and romantic, this book will engage readers until the very end.
This book is so good! It's really exciting and keeps you reading. :) I'm so in love with this series and have all the others on hold!! :) Every reader should read this series.
this quick moving book is an adventure on the high seas. Young Jack looks after herself by getting work on a ship and then earning herself the reputation of Bloody Jack during a battle with pirates. There is a bit of a romantic undertone as Jack hits puberty and her feelings for her fellow cabin boys come to the surface. While maintaining her disguise as a boy, she has to deal with her feelings as a girl. The book is high interest and a good quick read.
Good adventure. Probably will read the rest of the series...
A really fun and interesting book really good read good for anyone who are into pirates and sailors type of books. It was a great feat, the fact that she managed to survive on the street and also the many things she did after that.
A Fantastic series! Could not put it down and although I don't usually like to re-read books, I'm now re-reading this series for the third time! Jacky is a great character, full of life and mischief. You can't help but cheer her on. Only thing that due to some of the subjects touched upon, i would only recommend it for older teen+ readers. Remember this is 18th century London where an orphaned girl had very little choice if she wants to survive and even more so the life of a sailor was a rough one let alone for a young female. Overall though, a definite must read!
i love Jacky's character. Great read. You wont be able to put it down.
spectacular! i would recommend it to anyone
