Comment
Add a CommentFor a first novel, this is very good and takes a lot of chances. Takes the romance out of shark attacks, for sure! The narrator's gradual transformation--from a bitter, depressed victim to a particularly mature high schooler who has learned the secret of living well: acceptance of what is--is perfectly convincing. It's a fast read, too, for those who are looking for that kind of thing.
It was painful to read because it was in the format of poetry.
